Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an integral part of many products and projects at Continental Engineering Services. For example, AI-driven crop detection is employed for ecological weed elimination in the Weed Control System. Moreover, AI enhances and automates processes such as audit systems for extending the lifespan of hardware in the IT 2nd Life project. 

Optimizing Energy Utilization through AI

When it comes to the efficient use of energy and the reduction of energy consumption, artificial intelligence can play an essential role due to its ability to determine the optimization and adaptation of the energy used at any time in any area. Its potential for promoting sustainable energy consumption is vast, with numerous applications across various sectors.  

AI Services Provided by CES

The AI4Energy project, spearheaded by  CES’ GreenTech segment,  offers sustainable engineering solutions through a practical approach. The process involves comprehensive analysis and optimization of each step to achieve energy efficiency via AI. 

The sequence of operations consists of several phases. 

Phases of the AI4Energy Project

Initial Analysis and Assessment:

  • The system to be optimized is thoroughly analyzed by the GreenTech team through online and on-site meetings. 
  • Based on this analysis, requirements for energy optimization are developed in collaboration with the customer. 
  • Areas with high potential energy reduction are identified and evaluated.  

Data Collection and Digital Twin Setup:

  • Data is collected to create a digital twin, which is used to simulate optimization scenarios. A digital twin is a virtual model of the system to be optimized. It refers to real data and can be used for prognoses of the planned optimization. 
  • The digital twin implementation forms the basis of the final phase. 

Implementation and Monitoring:

  • The performance of the digital twin is monitored in cooperation with the customer. 
  • Continuous optimization is ensured through ‘Maintenance and Iteration Loops’allowing for the implementation of updated requirements. 

By leveraging AI, Continental Engineering Services aims to deliver significant improvements in energy efficiency, contributing to sustainable practices and reduced energy consumption.
